Many people ask when they first hear the word ” Reiki” , “What is it?” It is perhaps easier in answering this question to first state what Reiki is not. It is NOT a religion, nor is it associated with any religion, sect or cult, and it is based on no creeds or beliefs contradictory to Universal Laws of Love and light.
Reiki is an alternate name for the Usui Method of Natural Healing. It is a Japenese word for two syllables which mean:
REI (pronounced ‘ray’ ) = Universal Spirit or essence
KI (pronounced ‘ key’ ) = Life Energy , Light or Chi
Therefore , Reiki (‘ray-key’) means Universal Spirit of Life , or Universal Life Energy – the energy of life that is all around us and continuously flowing through us.
Everything that is alive contains Ki and radiates it.
Those who go and receive the Reiki Attunements have their bodies energy channels opened to connect them to the Universe’s limitless source of Ki. they now have life force energy for their own healing and the healing of others.
Reiki is a Healing energy . The Reiki practitioner channels this life energy through his or her hands to the recipient which activates the body’s natural ability to heal itself . The energy goes to where illnesses have their origin. It works wherever it is most needed . Cleansing the body of toxins and releasing blocked energies . This creates a state of balance
It is important to state , as a Reiki practitioner we are the channel , however we cannot influence where the energy goes or for what purpose . Reiki channel can make no promises whatsoever as to cures , miracle’s or other such considerations .
What set’s Reiki apart from other healing of the hands is the process of opening up the energy channels through the attunements . The Attunements are a very ancient process of fine tuning of the physical and etheric bodies to give them a higher vibratory level . It does not give the student something new , but unlocks what was always there .
